Great Hollands local election 7th November 2024

About me

For over 25 wonderful years, my family and I have proudly called Great Hollands (Woodenhill) our home. We've loved every moment spent in this warm, friendly community filled with amazing friendly people, green spaces, and facilities.

I have run my own businesses for nearly 20 years. I've had the privilege of serving as a school governor at Sandhurst School and Bracknell & Wokingham College, and as an Enterprise Adviser to King's Academy Easthampstead Park School. I'm proud to be a trustee for Home-Start Bracknell Forest, for almost 10 years.

In 2011, I was elected as the Borough & Town Councillor I for Great Hollands North, and I was re-elected in 2019 for Great Hollands South. It was an honour to serve as the Borough's Deputy Mayor in 2021 & 2022.

I led the Arts, Culture & Heritage strategy work at the Borough Council, and headed up the Climate Change working group at the Town Council. Last year, I had the unique opportunity to serve on the board of Arts Council England - South East Area.

My heart lies in helping people achieve their dreams. I have a great love for innovation, technology, entrepreneurship, politics, cars, Lego, music, art, and sports.

Why I am standing as an independent

I am standing as an independent candidate because I believe that local government should be free from the influence of national party politics. Over time, I've become deeply disillusioned with the current state of party politics at the national level. Instead of focusing on real issues that affect our communities, national campaigns are increasingly dominated by negativity, divisive rhetoric, and policies that don't always serve the best interests of local residents.

My commitment is to the Nolan Principles of public life - selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty, and leadership. Unfortunately, I see these values fading in today's political landscape. Too often, party politics requires representatives to support decisions that may not be in the best interest of the people they serve. I refuse to be bound by party lines that force compromise on the needs and priorities of our local community.

Additionally, the actions and controversies surrounding national parties frequently cast a shadow on local branches, diverting attention from what truly matters locally - our community and the people in them.

As an independent councillor, I would have the freedom to work across party lines, collaborating with all sides and holding them accountable without bias. My focus is on doing what's right for our community, ensuring that every decision is made with the best interests of local residents at heart, not dictated by the agenda of a national or local party.

This independence gives me the ability to scrutinise policies fairly, ensuring that I serve you with honesty, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to our local priorities. That's why I'm standing as an independent - to bring genuine, transparent, and accountable representation to our local government.

Every vote counts, so I am counting on your support. If you are unable to visit the polling station on that day, you can apply online for a postal vote.
